Southeast Saline’s Evan Watkins – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Commercial Tire

Evan Watkins is a senior from SE Saline who plays both slot back on offense and a middle linebacker on defense. As a senior, there are so many things to be excited about, and for Watkins, his senior year is no exception. “I’m looking forward to the preparation and practice. I’m looking forward to every game this year, during the season and post-season.” Watkins knows what it takes to win games and shared with Vype Magazine how every week and every game is a challenge. There is not one game that is just handed over. “You have to work for it, and in every game, you have to give it your best.”

Watkins also knows that preparations not only come on the field, but also off the field. During the offseason, Watkins and some friends hit the weight room. Over the summer, Watkins went to Sharp Performance Combine located in Salina. Some members of the team would get together to run routes and play catch.

During the spring, Watkins can be found on the baseball field. He is also a member of Science Club, NHS, and FFA. Watkins shared that his FFA team took first place at State last year in Agronomy and because of this, he and his teammates will travel to Indianapolis in October for Nationals. Watkins also enjoys his annual volunteer opportunity to help with Kansas Kids Fitness Day.

As for future plans, Watkins plans to attend Fort Hays State University to study pre-pharmacy. After time at FHSU, Watkins will attend a pharmaceutical school with possible schools being KU or UMKC.
