As she steps into her final basketball season, Grace Prescott, a senior point guard at Elyria Christian High School, is determined to leave a legacy built on leadership, teamwork, and selflessness. While she’s focused on personal growth, Prescott’s ultimate goal is to guide the young team toward a state tournament appearance.
“My goals this season are to average 3–5 assists per game,” Prescott shared. “I would also like to average at least 3 steals per game defensively to help the team,” she added. Yet, she’s quick to emphasize that this year isn’t about her individual stats. As the only senior on the roster, she’s embraced the responsibility of teaching her teammates what it means to truly compete for each other and for a greater purpose.
During the offseason, Prescott focused on becoming a stronger, faster, and more complete athlete by spending extra hours in the gym to prepare for her senior campaign. Last season, she averaged five assists per game, thanks in part to her connection with standout post Joy Pyle. A teammate whom Prescott credits for being able to catch even the worst passes and still put them in the net.
Beyond basketball, Prescott has already committed to Fort Hays State University, where she will continue her academic and soccer career while majoring in Elementary Education. A multi-sport athlete who’s also competed in cross country and track and participates in McPherson’s soccer team during the spring, Prescott’s passion for sports and leadership shines through in everything she does.
With faith, humility, and determination, Grace Prescott is ready to lead Elyria Christian one last time and finish her high school journey strong.
