Harlee Nelson is a senior at Sylvan-Lucas who has built her softball career through years of experience, consistency and leadership in the circle and on the infield.
The senior has played high school softball for four years and competed in travel softball for eight, giving her a strong foundation that shows in her competitiveness and approach to the game.
Nelson plays both pitcher and shortstop and brings a level of intensity and confidence to both positions.
Over the course of her career, Nelson has reached several milestones. She has surpassed 300 career strikeouts and 100 career stolen bases while also earning honorable mention honors in both her sophomore and junior seasons. Those accomplishments reflect her impact on the mound and her ability to contribute in multiple ways offensively and defensively.
Looking at her senior season, Nelson’s focus is less on individual numbers and more on team growth and development. She said her personal goal is to help her team become stronger and more confident as the season progresses. Her team goal is straightforward — build consistency, compete together and finish with a winning record.
Nelson also understands the importance of leadership beyond performance. She has taken on a role helping younger players adjust to the program and continue developing their skills.
“We are working together to show the younger girls new things and help them learn,” Nelson said. “We encourage them to be the best that they can be.”
