First baseman Kimber Ogorzolka has been playing softball since she was eight years old and has built a strong reputation at the plate for her powerful hitting. Additionally, her exceptional defensive skills at first base have made her a key player and a cornerstone of the Southeast of Saline Trojans.

“Kimber brings experience and leadership to a team that is looking to replace a large and talented class that graduated last year,” first year head coach Tyler Smith said. “Last season, she was an NCAA all-league selection. At the plate, Kimber has gap-to-gap power that will put her in the middle of our lineup. Defensively, Kimber’s size and athleticism give her a lot of range and the ability to play several positions.”

The senior has dedicated countless hours to improving her game, playing year-round to refine her skills. Through her hard work and commitment, she has become a standout player known for her talent and determination.

“Being a good hitter to me doesn’t mean having these bomb hits every single time,” Ogorzolka said. “To me, it means making solid contact and getting these solid contact gap hits that get you on base and score runs. I practice in the off-season and work a lot with my dad. I do a lot of different drills that help improve my form and power when hitting.”

The Trojans are coming off a really solid season and will use Ogorzolka’s leadership as a building block to their new success.

“As a leader, I plan on making sure everyone is included, helping the younger girls understand drills, and giving them any advice they may ask for or anything that I see could help them,” Ogorzolka said.
