Salina South senior Morgan Jenousek has been playing softball since she was five years old, always being one of the most positive and best teammates and players on her team.
“Morgan is a great player and a kind person,” head coach Brea Vidrine said. “She is a player that I would like future players to look up to. She might be one of the most coachable kids I have met and is always willing to try any ideas I may have. She came into high school wanting to play second base, but as a coaching staff, we talked with her about playing outfield. She saw an opportunity to play on varsity last year and threw herself at it. She found her comfort zone in right field with us, being able to read a sliced ball better than most. She also did a great job at the plate for us, hitting in the five spot all season long.”
The senior is coming off of a year where she was a part of a state team and had a .426 on base percentage, with 25 RBI’s, 18 runs, and being named to the all-league honorable mention team.
“This year my goal is to go out on the field every day and work hard knowing that this season is the last time I will be able to play with some of my best friends and the girls I grew up with,” Jenousek said. “We have a very special group this year that have been playing together for many years so my goal is to make the most of this year and get better while enjoying our time together. As a team, we all have the exact same goal to go back to state this year. We are all determined to meet this goal and we talk about it every time we are all together.”
