Even though the Salina South boys basketball team won just seven games last season, returner Easton Wilcox has high hopes that the Cougars can fly under the radar this season.

“I am most excited that we have a lot of returning players and we could surprise a lot of teams this year,” Wilcox said.

While Wilcox’s statistics a year ago weren’t what he wanted, he put in the work in the offseason so that he can take significant strides.

“I am trying to improve on being more consistent with my shots,” Wilcox said. “I have been in the gym doing workouts to improve it and getting more shots up. Also getting better being a facilitator. I worked on that while playing AAU games and when I’m in the gym doing workouts.”

Wilcox has big-time goals for both the Cougars and himself in 2026.

“My team goals are I want to be above 500 and make it to state and have a run in state,” Wilcox said. “Individual goals are being the best shooter on the team and leading the team in steals and assists and also average over 10 points a game.”
