Minneapolis senior Kailtyn Worlock throws shot put and discus for the Lions. Head coach Linda Smith praises Worlock for her personality and all around work ethic.
“Kaitlyn is a great student-athlete to showcase in your magazine. She is a strong senior leader who has been committed to our program for all 4 years in the throwing events. Kaitlyn spends time in the off-season training and attends indoor meets around the state to improve her skills. She is a positive person with numerous leadership roles at MHS,” Smith said. “She brings fun to every practice while remaining focused on the task at hand, encouraging others to do their best at all times.”
One of the main things Worlock wanted to make a focus this offseason to help her improve her throwing was her quickness.
“In the off-season, I focus more on getting stronger because getting stronger will make me faster and help me get across the ring faster,” Worlock said.
Last season Worlock shot 32′ 1/2 which placed her sixth place at the Minneapolis meet
And then shot 31′ 10.5″ which gave her another sixth place finish at the Hoyt-Royal Valley Regional meet.
Since it is her senior year, Worlock has high hopes of success for her and her team this season.
“One goal I have for myself this year is to make it to state. One team goal I have is for all of us to leave the season better than we started, whether that means getting a PR each meet or just becoming stronger,” Worlock said.
