McPherson’s Logan Beede admitted he was never the star-studded athlete from the time he started playing sports.
But he has dedicated himself to working harder than others so that he can make an impact.
“I would say my definition of hard work is having a mindset as well as pushing myself till failure and to get one percent better every day,” Beede said. “I always had a chip on my shoulder in the beginning. I have always had this ‘prove them wrong’ mentality.”
The Bullpups’ head baseball coach, Heath Gerstner, said Beede has worked himself into being a great high school pitcher.
Beede was flattered by his coach’s words.
“I know the program Coach Gerstner has built centers around hard work and determination,” Gerstner said. “Our two core covenants for our team are selflessness and relentlessness.”
Year in and year out, the McPherson baseball program has proven to be one of the best in Class 4A. Beede said that leaving a legacy and expectation for the next wave of players is important.
“Guys like me that work hard, are drawn to leaders that work hard and have the same determination and drive to win,” Beede said. “I had upperclassmen when I was younger that showed me how to compete like Jaron Brown, Jaret Myers and Dawson Feil.”
