After gaining valuable experience as a young player last season, McPherson’s Brody Milleson believes the Bullpups are in position to take the next step in 2026.
With much of last year’s roster returning, Milleson said the combination of experience and continuity has created plenty of excitement heading into the fall.
“I’m very excited for this season because we brought back many guys and were pretty young last year,” Milleson said. “I’m excited to see what we can do.”
McPherson’s offseason has been built around hard work and consistency. The Bullpups have spent the summer in early morning weightlifting sessions before taking the field for additional work, while also testing themselves against quality competition at team camps.
The extra work has allowed Milleson to focus on refining the details of his game, particularly as a running back.
“During the offseason I really tried to improve reading my blocks and trusting the people in front of me,” he said.
Milleson flashed his potential during the 2025 season, carrying the ball 82 times for 530 yards and eight touchdowns while adding three receptions for 35 yards. His role expanded late in the season when he began playing defense over the final three games, recording 15 total tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.
That versatility is something he hopes to build on this fall.
While Milleson has individual goals of becoming one of the state’s top running backs, he said team success remains the priority.
“My biggest goal is to help my team win games, and I want to be a playmaker on the defensive side,” Milleson said. “Individually I want to be a top running back in the state, taking care of the football, and improving my blocking. Our team wants to make a deep playoff run.”
