McPherson’s Addie Herrera – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Bluestem Pace

With a new head coach, you never know what you will get from the team and coaches. Despite the change, the constants you can count on for the McPherson Bullpups will be the excellent coaching from Daryl Hoelting and on the mound from Bullpup senior Addie Herrera.

The senior has established herself as one of the top pitchers in the state, adding to her impressive resume. She earned honorable mention all-league honors as a sophomore before securing first-team all-league and second team all-state recognition in later seasons.

“My personal goal is to be chosen for first team all-state,” Herrera said. “And for the team to be undefeated league champs and to go to state.”

Herrera has been playing softball for as long as she can remember, starting with t-ball at the age of five before advancing to travel softball at seven. Now, after years of dedication and hard work, she will take her talents to the next level as she commits to playing softball at Kansas Wesleyan University.

On top of committing to play college softball, the senior has her sights set on winning a state championship—especially as the team enters a new era under Coach Hoelting. With her dedication and leadership, she is determined to check that accomplishment off her list.

“I’m very excited to see how this year will turn out for us,” Herrera said. “We have an excellent group of hardworking girls, and we have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. We are also really looking forward to this season with our new coaching staff. If our off-season indicates how our season will go, it will be great. We love how Coach Hoelting pushes us to improve and never lets us quit, even when it gets tough.”
