Little River’s Jhet Ewertt – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Commercial Tire

Jhet Ewertt of Little River had one memorable season for the Redskins last season, and was named a first team all-league free safety. While it was one of his best seasons, it was also one of his favorites.

“My most memorable moment was when we played West Elk in the playoffs last year,” Ewertt said. “It was raining and the whole field was muddy. That atmosphere made it a game we will remember forever.”

To keep up with competition, Ewertt spent the offseason training and working to strengthen his weaknesses.

“I’ve been lifting and doing football workouts during the summer,” Ewertt said. “I’ve also been trying to gain weight and get stronger in the weight room.”

While working to better himself as an athlete, Ewertt is also planning on helping lead his team to some big wins this season.

“Some of my goals are being a good leader and teammate this season,” Ewertt said. “I hope to continue to contribute to our defense but also be a big part of our offense. We’re hoping to make an even further run in the playoffs this year.”

When their season was cut short, Ewertt knew which games were going to mean the most this year, and a rematch is what Ewertt and the team has been looking forward to.

“We lost to Central Plains in the playoffs last year so that will be a big game for us this year,” Ewertt said.
