For Inman senior Cooper Wiens, football is about more than tackles and touchdowns—it’s about effort, leadership, and keeping his team grounded.
Wiens, a two-way starter at defensive end and right tackle, is known for his stamina, speed, and ability to calm his teammates when emotions run high.
“My ability to just keep going during a game and continuously give full effort for the entire game has led me to become someone my team can confidently rely on and believe in,” Wiens said. “I’ve had multiple occasions where we weren’t doing too well at halftime, but I made sure everyone came out with a clear head and something to prove.”
As a junior, Wiens earned all-league first team honors on both sides of the ball, recording 83 tackles, three sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.
Now as a senior, his goals are even greater. Wiens wants 100 tackles, continued growth as a stronger leader, and a relentless effort to rub off on him and the rest of his teammates to never take a play off. For the team, that means a winning record, improvement every practice, and a run at the state championship.
“I plan to make sure everyone has a strong work ethic, stays on top of schoolwork, and is feeling good mentally,” Wiens said. “I want to be there for them if they ever need help.”
