Don’t sleep on the Hillsboro baseball team, says the Trojans’ do-it-all player Nash Dickinson.
“What I’m most excited about this season is the opportunity to raise some eyebrows. The past couple of seasons we haven’t won the close games but I believe we have a team that has the capability to grab some surprising wins.”
Dickinson is the ace of the Hillsboro’s pitching staff, but he also catches when not on the mound and occasionally plays first base.
Last season, Dickinson’s stat line read like this: .344 batting average, 16 RBI’s, two HR’s, .452 OBP, .540 slugging and 18 stolen bases.
Dickinson spent the vast majority of his offseason training trying to work on a couple aspects to his game.
“I was able to get some good training at Tabor in this summer though and play for a fall ball team,” Dickinson said. “The part of my game I’ve worked the hardest on is my contact and hip mobility through training and drills. Also being one of the main pitchers this year, I have worked on throwing workouts.”
What Dickinson has in mind of the 2025 season is a combination of things that can be attained if the offseason work pays off.
“Some of my goals this season are to hit well and win games,” Dickinson said. “I am aiming to get an OPS percentage of 1.100 and for us to get at least fifth in league. I also hope for our team to get a .950 in fielding percentage.”
