The older you get, the more an athlete understands, whether they like the sport, love the sport, or live the sport. For Hillsboro junior Lauryn Vogt, she is one who lives the sport.
“Lauryn is a hardworking swimmer,” head coach MacKenzie Magee said. “When she is in the pool for a practice or a meet she is giving it her all. She shows up always willing to put in the work and I think that translates to her as a person as well. She plays volleyball for the school and is still active in Hillsboro AV program. Everything she does she gives her best and it shows.”
In 2023, Vogt finished her season as a100m butterfly third place finisher, 50m freestyle state champion, while being named a class 5-1a first team all-state swimmer.
Then in 2024, Vogt continued to work again. She was crowned as a 100m butterfly state champion, 50m freestyle state champion where she tied the state record 23.77.
Vogt has been swimming since she was five years old. Currently, the junior is swimming for Hillsboro high school and her club team the Nitros, and soon, the University of Kansas Jayhawks where she will get to continue her athletic and academic career.
“I have swam club from a young age and put many hours and days of hard work and dedication into swimming,” Vogt said. “I am focused and driven to reach the goals I set for myself. I have had knowledgeable coaches, club and high school who helped me get where I am today.”
