Haely Hagemann a senior and outside hitter for McPherson High School’s volleyball team is looking forward to trying to make it back to the state championship game. “We definitely have the talent and belief to get there, so we just need to work hard everyday in practice and regular season to give us the best shot at a state championship title.”
Hagemann wants to step up as a team leader this season since it is her senior year. She has been playing with her teammates for years and is excited to step onto the court and get back into action with her team. “We have such a special bond that most teams don’t, and we play so well together.”
Andale and Circle are the two teams Hagemann is most looking forward to playing. She told VYPE Magazine McPherson always plays at its best against these teams and steps up to the tough competition. The home tournament is also a high note for Hagemann and her team. “The home invite is also a tournament I look forward to every year. The competition is great, and it’s always nice being at home.”
Since McPherson only lost one senior from last season, there isn’t a lot of change from the previous roster. Hagemann did share how the team has been trying to fill the void of the senior setter from last year. Personally, Hagemann has been working on her serves and focusing on sets that are a little too outside for her to hit well. During the spring, Hagemann can be found playing softball and shared how softball is her main sport. After graduating this spring, Hagemann plans to attend Butler County Community College and play softball. Her major will be engineering with a focus in chemistry.
