Bennington’s Isaiah Garrett – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Visit Salina

Bennington senior Isaiah Garrett has big plans for this season for him and the Bulldogs, and hopes that the work he has put in this offseason will help him accomplish them all.

“I played a lot of summer ball like AAU and some with my school team and I attended a few camps.,” Garrett said. “One area I wanted to be better in is my shooting. I feel like if I can be a knock down shooter then we’ll prosper as a team.”

Head coach Curtis Pickering is excited for Garrett’s senior year for the Bulldogs.

“Isaiah is one of those players that coaches dream about. He’s such a polite, kind hearted, smart, driven, and hard working young man. His love for the game of basketball is off the charts and he’s as coach able of a player that I’ve ever had,” Pickering said.

After graduating four starters last year, Bennington will need someone to step up, and Garrett believes it’s him.

“I’m the main guy on my team,” Garrett said.

Garrett last year averaged 13 points per game, seven rebounds and three assists, earning him first team all-league and first team all-state.

Last year Bennington lost in the substate championship, after they blew a significant lead. That is one of the things that keeps Garret motivated and fuels his goals for himself and his team this season.

“I hope to reach 1,000 points. It’s a long shot but not impossible. For our team is to make it to the substate championship to redeem ourselves,” Garrett said.
