Brax Fisher of Abilene has high hopes for the upcoming season, and is ready to compete. The honorable mention all-league athlete has been using the offseason to prepare for his senior year.
“During the summer I really hit the weight room and got faster and stronger,” Fisher said. “I’ve always played AAU for SSA so that’s a great way to stay in basketball shape and work on my game against harder competition.”
Fisher’s goals are just like any other players, and he hopes to make it all the way to state this year.
“Part of my game I try to improve would be my consistency from beyond the arc,” Fisher said. “My main goals would be to win league and make a state playoff appearance. Last year we came short and the year before that we had a first round exit so we would love to make it back and get a playoff win.”
Last season a close game against Rock Creek became the season-high for the Cowboys, and one of Fisher’s favorite memories.
“My favorite basketball memory would be winning substate at home in a close game against Rock creek,” Fisher said. “We were able to cut the net down.”
With a life surrounded by sports, Fisher hopes to continue getting to play after high school.
“I play football and plan on playing a spring sport this year,” Fisher said. “I want to play a sport at the next level whether that’s football or basketball.”
