Joshua Soto, a standout 2026 soccer athlete for Salina South, is entering his senior year with high expectations and even higher motivation. A dynamic striker and midfielder, Soto is a key playmaker for the Cougars and is determined to help lead his team to new heights. “My goals this year are to win regionals again, make a deep run in state, and individually, I want to make All-League and First Team All-State,” he says.

Salina South came up short of the state championship game during the last two seasons, Soto is more focused than ever. “I’m ready to go back to state and finally make it to the state game.” To prepare for the soccer season, Soto put in the work over the summer months, showing his commitment both on and off the field. When not on the field, Soto could be found in the gym, running, or participating in team conditioning. Soto also competed in summer league games in McPherson, Manhattan, and Wichita.

One of his proudest accomplishments came last season when he earned All-League Honorable Mention, just six months after returning from ACL surgery. Soto was also part of Salina South’s back-to-back regional championships. This is an experience Soto is proud to share a part in.

Although he is currently undecided about future plans, Soto is looking to attend college while continuing his soccer career at the colligate level. Soto also is showcasing his versatility as the kicker for Salina South’s football team.

Joshua Soto is a competitor on both soccer and football fields, and his senior year is shaping up to be one to remember.
