Republic County’s Kymry Hoesli has spent the offseason preparing for her final season through a combination of individual work and team activities. She put in extra repetitions with teammates throughout the summer while also attending college camps, open gyms and Republic County’s summer weights program.
“I’ve been putting a lot of reps in with a few of the girls over the summer as well as attending college camps, open gyms and participating in our summer weights program,” Hoesli said.
As an experienced senior, Hoesli knows her role extends beyond her play on the court. One of her biggest goals this season is becoming a more vocal leader and helping maintain consistent energy throughout matches.
She also has a specific mechanical goal: improving her serve.
“Being a vocal leader on the court and keeping team energy consistent,” Hoesli said of her areas for improvement. “Also mechanically I want to improve my serve, by being not just consistent but having an aggressive serve in even high stress situations.”
Hoesli enters the season with a pair of major individual accomplishments already on her résumé. She was named NCAA First Team All-League in both 2024 and 2025.
This season, she hopes to add another milestone by reaching 1,000 career digs while continuing to serve as an example for her younger teammates.
“For an individual goal I’m hoping to hit my 1000 digs this season as well as continue to set a good example for others around me,” Hoesli said.
Her team goals are centered on the same qualities she wants to bring as a leader: energy, commitment and selflessness.
“For a team goal, fuel the court with high energy and put the team first, playing every point with purpose and total dedication to one another,” Hoesli said.
With one season remaining, Hoesli is embracing the opportunity to lead a team that includes both longtime teammates and an emerging group of younger players. For her, the chance to compete alongside her closest friends while helping prepare the next generation of Republic County volleyball players makes her senior season especially meaningful.
