Southeast of Saline senior Tristan Swank is looking forward to one more opportunity to compete alongside his teammates and build on the success the Trojans have established in recent seasons.
As the upcoming season approaches, Swank said one of the things he is most excited about is sharing the field with his friends while watching the next group of players step into bigger roles.
“I am excited to play with all my friends,” Swank said. “Everyone has put in a lot of hard work this offseason, and I’m looking forward to seeing some younger guys step up and prove themselves.”
Swank has spent the offseason preparing for his senior campaign by focusing on improving his strength and developing his skills against high-level competition. He has consistently worked through summer workouts, including weights and conditioning, while also attending multiple football camps.
“I have been working hard all summer going to weights and conditioning,” Swank said. “I also attended multiple football camps this summer and gained lots of experience going against some of the best athletes from the surrounding states.”
A key focus for Swank heading into the season is continuing to become a stronger and more effective player. He plans to accomplish that goal by continuing the work he started in the offseason.
“I would like to continue to improve my strength,” Swank said. “Continuing to be in the weightroom and lifting during the offseason.”
Swank enters the season as one of Southeast of Saline’s top returning contributors after a strong junior year. He recorded 75 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and two sacks while earning second-team all-league honors on both the defensive line and offensive line.
With another season ahead, Swank has set ambitious goals for himself and his team. Individually, he is aiming to reach 80 tackles and earn first-team all-state recognition. As a team, he wants the Trojans to maintain their winning culture and continue competing at a high level each week.
“My goal as a team is to go 1-0 every week and have another undefeated regular season,” Swank said.
