Dylan Cabezas, a senior at McPherson High School, is making his mark in track and field through dedication, versatility, and a vision for his future. Competing in the triple jump, high jump, and 300-meter hurdles, Cabezas has developed into a well-rounded athlete who continues to push himself both physically and mentally.
As the season progresses, Cabezas is especially motivated by the opportunity to return to regionals and compete for a spot at the state level. That goal has been a driving force behind his consistent effort. In the offseason, he focused heavily on strength training, working hard in the gym to increase his overall power. Alongside that, he committed to improving his speed through plyometric exercises and refining his form. Both key components for success in his events.
Cabezas understands that improvement is a continuous process. While he has made strides in strength and technique, he recognizes that speed remains an area for growth and continues to prioritize it in his training. His determination reflects his competitive mindset and his desire to perform at his best when it matters most.
Looking ahead, Cabezas set the goal to qualify for state and earn a place on the podium in the triple jump. Beyond high school athletics, he is planning for a future rooted in practical skills and career readiness. He intends to attend Manhattan Technical College, where he will pursue an associate degree while also earning certification in HVAC.
With a strong work ethic and defined goals, Dylan Cabezas is preparing not only for success on the track but also for a promising future beyond it.
