Caden Wenderott is a senior thrower at McPherson High School and is entering his final track and field season with high expectations. Specializing in shot put and discus, Wenderott has steadily improved throughout his high school career and is determined to make this season his best season yet. With his personal records already on the rise, he has his sights set on breaking school records both in the shot put and discus and capping off his career with a state championship.

During the offseason, Wenderott dedicated himself to refining his technique through summer throwing sessions while committing to an intense daily weightlifting routine. His discipline and work ethic have paid off. Wenderott is showing major improvement with his marks. In the shot put, he threw 48-11 last year and hit 54-1 this season. His discus throws increased from 149 feet to 160-4. “Every workout, I give it 110% and push myself every day because that’s the only way you can get better at what you do,” Wenderott shared.

Beyond physical growth, Wenderott is focused on strengthening his mental game. After struggling last season with maintaining composure following a poor throw, he has made it a priority to stay focused and resilient during competition. This shift in mindset could prove crucial as he aims to perform at his peak in high-pressure moments.

Wenderott is also motivated by his teammates and coaching staff, expressing excitement about competing alongside a talented group of throwers. As a team, they hope to dominate at regionals and send a strong contingent to state.

After graduation, Wenderott will continue his athletic and academic journey at McPherson College on a track and field scholarship, where he plans to study business management.
