Moundridge High School senior Macy Kaminkow is entering her final basketball season with focus, faith, and fire. As a post player, Kaminkow embraces the physical side of the game and takes pride in her role as one of the team’s toughest competitors. “Scoring may not be my specialty,” she said, “but rebounding and toughness is. I can’t always make the ball fall in the hoop, but I can always give 110% effort.” Kaminkow wants to be the most aggressive player on the floor every single game.
Team-wise, Kaminkow and her teammates are determined to return to the same heights as last year while keeping their faith at the center of it all. “Our team is huge on faith dictating everything we do,” she shared. “With God, all things are possible. Doing what the Lord has in store for us is the ultimate team goal.”
Kaminkow is especially excited for home games this year, crediting Moundridge’s supportive community for creating an electric atmosphere. “Nothing beats a good hometown crowd,” she says. “Moundridge has the best community, which is so supportive.” She and the team also welcome the challenge of having a “target on our back,” knowing it pushes the team to be their best.
During the offseason, Kaminkow worked hard through summer weights, conditioning, and tournaments with a local Moundridge team. Her proudest accolade so far is becoming a state champion, though she’s equally proud of her 166 rebounds last season, leaving her just 67 away from 500 career rebounds.
Outside of basketball, Kaminkow is a standout leader in multiple activities, including volleyball, softball, choir, theater, FCCLA, FCA, STUCO, and more. As she looks ahead to college, most likely in-state, she envisions a future in business and marketing, following in her family’s entrepreneurial footsteps.
