McPherson’s Ellie Bower – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Horizon Real Estate

This year from McPherson High School is a senior Ellie Bower. Bower plays on the girls’ basketball team in the position of guard. McPherson is a young team this year, losing several seniors from the 2024 graduating class, so Bower is one of the top returners from last season for McPherson. This season Bower hopes to be a good leader and teammate for the rest of the team.

Special events for seniors are always a highlight for high schoolers. One event Bower is looking forward to this year is senior night. This season senior night will be held on February 27th at McPherson High School’s roundhouse.

During the offseason, to prepare for Bower’s final year of high school basketball, Bower worked on her left hand as well as practicing shooting. Hopefully this will help Bower lead the team to growth and success throughout the season.

Last year, Bower and teammates finished out her junior year placing third place at state. This is something Bower and the team was proud of. “I was really proud of that because we came back after a tough loss to end the season on a good note.”

This coming spring, Bower will graduate from McPherson High School and has plans to attend The University of Kansas, but only as a student. The goal for Bower academically is to become an eye doctor.

In addition to basketball, Bower also plays soccer in the spring for the high school. Bower keeps plenty busy outside of sports. Bower is involved in KAY club, STUCO, International Club, and HOSA.
